Local Strangers

“change the future,repeat the past”

Local Strangers are a young, edgy 4-piece band from North Dublin city. They are:

  • Carl Foran - Lead vocals, rhythm guitar
  • Conor Fowler - Lead guitar, support vocals
  • Johnny McGuinness - Bass, support vocals
  • Kevin Twomey - Drums

The band, a group of close friends, formed in Summer 2007 and have been playing un-genre-able music that just keeps getting better since then. Their raw, catchy music incorporates an assortment of genres including jazz, rock, blues, bebop, soul and funk, and they aren’t afraid to try out new things. Picture, if you will, something like The John Mayer Trio, Thin Lizzy, And Justin Timberlake, mixed together.

You still don’t have it. These guys are just a big bundle of talent, and they’re lovely people too! Their gigs promise a great night. Frontman Carl addresses the crowd and his voice perfectly suits the band’s sound. Conor Fowler is an amazing talent on the guitar, and his gripping solos are spine-tinglingly great. Johnny’s bow-tied bass is played brilliantly and with a smile, and Kevin Twomey has great passion and really knows his way around those drums.

The group love making the music they make. They appreciate and enjoy every opportunity they get and every single bit of support they get from their ever-growing fanbase. This band really are a fantastic example of the talent in Dublin’s undergroud music scene.
